Mumbai Mantra - Cinerise Screenwriting Programme
Final Pitch Session- January, 2016
The Mumbai Mantra CineRise Screenwriting Programme 2015 culminated on January 4 with a final Pitch Session. At this Pitch sessions, the Mumbai Mantra CineRise Screenwriting Fellows, who had been through a 5-day residential Lab where they had received intensive one-on-one sessions on their screenplays by a distinguished group of established screenwriters and directors from India and abroad, got a platform to directly pitch their feature film projects with potential producers and financiers.
Some of the studios in attendance were UTV Disney, Viacom 18, Fox Star Studios, Sikhya Entertainment, Dar Motion Pictures, Cinestaan Film Company, Film London, Rakesyh Omprakash Mehra Productions, RSVP, Recyclewlala Films, Highlight Films and Tips Industries Ltd. Sunil Doshi, Deepti Da Cunha, Meenakshi Shedde and Valerie Anne Christen (Consultant to Unifrance) were among the other independent producers and film festival programmers who attended the session convened by Anjum Rajabali.
The projects that were pitched at the session today included ANADHIKRUT by Gaurav Patki, PAAGI by Gajendra Shrotiya, CHARLIE by Shazia Iqbal, INDIA VS PAKISTAN by Pranav G Mahadevia, LIKKAR THEKA BY, Manav Vigg, MITRA by Ravi Guria, RAAT AKELI HAI by Smita Singh, THAKURMAR JHULI by Mahee Pal & Mon Pal, THE BIRYANI SELLER by Rajdeep Paul & Sarmistha Maiti and BOMBAY BLACK by Rajiv Rao.
The Screenwriting Programme is designed as a detailed step-by-step process of nurturing, with several stages of creative intervention from mentors. This initiative is a significant stepping stone in igniting a story-telling revolution in the country.
